Terms of sale and use

These terms apply to everything you buy or book on williamcognity.com. Please read them before you pay. If you do not agree, please do not buy.
1. Who we are
This website is run by William Cognity ("we", "us"). The seller's business name, address and VAT number (where it applies) are shown on your invoice and at checkout. You can contact us at any time at hello@williamcognity.com.
2. What we sell
- Digital products such as the 4-4-4-4 Career Counsellor Toolkit, other toolkits and worksheets, sold as downloads.
- Licences that let a person, a school or a school group use those digital products (see section 4).
- 1:1 coaching and training sessions, booked with William Cognity (see section 8).
- Books. Our books are sold by Amazon, not by us. Amazon's terms apply to those purchases.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in euros. Whether a price includes or excludes VAT is shown at checkout before you pay, together with any tax that applies in your country. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. By paying you confirm the details you give are correct.
4. Licences: what you may and may not do
When you buy a digital product you get a licence to use it. You do not become the owner of the files or the copyright. We keep all rights that are not clearly given to you here.

For all licences:
- The files are for internal use with your own students or clients.
- You may print worksheets for the people you teach or counsel. You may not publish, post online or sell the files, in whole or in part.
- You may not share editable source files with anyone outside your licence.
- You may not remove the licence note, our name or copyright notices from the files.
- Network licences and some school licences may need a short written agreement. Where one exists, it applies together with these terms.
- If you break these licence rules, we may end your licence and ask you to delete the files.
5. Early-access edition and updates
The 4-4-4-4 Framework and its toolkit are an early-access edition. The first edition is complete and ready to use. We will improve it using feedback. Buyers of an early-access product receive the updates we release during early access, at no extra cost. We do not promise a date or number of updates.
The 4-4-4-4 Framework is a new method. It has not been independently validated or tested by outside researchers. We say so openly.
6. Delivery
After payment is confirmed we email you a link to download your files. We aim to send it within 24 hours, and usually much sooner. Please check your spam folder. If you have not received it after 24 hours, write to hello@williamcognity.com and we will fix it. You are responsible for giving us a correct email address.
7. Cancelling and refunds
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK
The law normally gives you 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content, this right ends when download starts, if you agreed to that and confirmed you understand you lose the right. At checkout we will ask you to tick a box to say you want immediate access to the digital content and that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the download begins. If you do not tick the box, we will not send the files before the 14 days end. This does not affect your legal right to a repair, replacement or refund if a product is faulty or not as described.
If you are a professional or business buyer
Digital files cannot be returned once delivered. If a file is faulty or does not open, we will fix it or replace it. If we cannot, we will refund the price of that product. If the product is simply not right for you, write to us within 14 days of purchase. We will consider each request fairly and may offer a refund or a credit, but we are not required to.
How to ask
Email hello@williamcognity.com with your name, the email you used to buy and what went wrong. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, normally within 14 days.
8. 1:1 coaching and training
- You book a session by email or through the booking link on the website. The session length, price and format are confirmed before you pay.
- Sessions are held online unless we agree otherwise.
- You may cancel or move a session free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. Later changes or missed sessions may be charged or lost, unless there is a good reason such as illness.
- If we must cancel, we will offer a new time or a full refund.
- Consumers in the EU and UK may have a right to cancel services within 14 days. If you ask us to start sooner, you may have to pay for the part already given.

9. No guarantees
We give guidance, tools and training. We cannot promise admission to any school or university, a scholarship, a job, a grade, a test result or any other outcome. Results depend on your efforts, your circumstances and other people's decisions. Training completion gives you a note that you took part. It is not an accredited or professional qualification, and we do not describe it as one.
10. Intellectual property
All content on this website and in our products, including text, worksheets, slides, trackers, images, logos and the name "William Cognity", belongs to us or our licensors. Logos of other organisations belong to those organisations. You may not copy, adapt or reuse our content except as these terms allow.
11. Acceptable use
Please do not misuse the website. This means no hacking, scraping at large scale, spreading harmful code, pretending to be someone else, or using our content to build a competing product. We may block access if you do.
12. Our responsibility
We take care to make our products accurate and useful. We are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for lost profits or business. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your legal rights as a consumer. Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We do not control them.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law that applies to the seller named on your invoice, unless the law gives you the right to rely on the law of the country where you live. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live. We would like to solve any problem with you first. Please write to hello@williamcognity.com. If we cannot agree, you may go to the courts that have authority under the law, or use an online dispute route available in your country. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution information where it is available.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one on this page on the day you buy. We will show the date of the latest update at the top of this page.
